About us

Rubicon Cares is a registered charity and we have been providing this unique service in Kent & Medway since 2006.

We are a team of highly qualified, professional male and female counsellors who have all undertaken further training in specialist fields such as trauma, addiction and the Criminal Justice System. All of our counsellors are

  • a minimum of Advanced Diploma level trained.
  • members of or accredited or working towards accreditation with the National Counselling Society and/or the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
  • have their own liability insurance
  • are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (Data Protection)
  • have appropriate clinical supervision

We are diverse in our training and flexible in our approach , hence we are able to offer the following:

  • counselling to people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • We have counsellors that are fluent in Spanish, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. We are also able to work with interpreters and signers, if funding allows us to.
  • we will source rooms to ensure people with disabilities can easily access the room
  • nobody is precluded from our service regardless of age, ability, gender, religion, sexual orientation, finances, culture, language

We welcome all feedback because we believe this helps us to shape the service we offer. if you have cause to make a complaint please contact us for our complaints procedure.

We offer short term counselling, 6 to 8 sessions in the first instance and the focus of the counselling is led by you in discussion with the counsellor. Our belief is to work in ‘bite size, manageable chunks’ method. This means the focus of the work , which is decided by you, is what you need at the moment to help manage day to day life. You can come back and do more work at a later date if you wish too. You will not be forced to talk about anything you do not wish to and the counsellor will not dictate what the focus of the sessions will be. If you are concerned 6 – 8 sessions may not be enough, please talk this through with us and we can consider what may be needed.

Additionally we are able to offer training packages to individuals or groups on a variety of subject matters such as addiction, anxiety management , trauma or domestic violence.

We are the proud recipients of 2006 Kent Criminal Justice Award for Working with Victims of Crime
